The research group has esdtablished the following laboratories: Laboratory for advanced networking technologies, Laboratory for network security and systems security, Laboratory for digital signal processing, The laboratory for advanced networking technologies is equipped with personal and portable computers, communication network devices including routrs, switches, and WLAN access points (IEEE 802.11b/g/n/ac, optical reflectometer, optical attenuation measurement instrumens, digital oscilloscope for the range of 2.5 GHz, and vector signal generator. Laboratory for network security and systems security is equipped with Arduino system and LoRaWAN system devices. Laboratory for digital signal processing is equipped with with personal and portable computers and with LabView and MATLAB systems.
The research will cover the area of networking technologies, systems and applications. It will include the technologies of advanced heterogeneous networks, technologies for network and systems security, technologies of sensor networks, technologies for enhancement of energy efficiency of networks and systems, and technologies for location determination in wireless networks and location based services.
Particularly the investigation will include advanced technologies for wireless access networks. Advanced signal processing techniques and algorithms for channel modeling and impulsive noise mitigation, advanced techniques of synchronization in wireless networks, advanced techniques for the initialization of a large number of devices by using light signal, advanced wireless sensor networks technologies. And advanced technologies for enhancement of teh energy efficiency of wireless communication networks.
The research in the area of channel modeling and noise and interefrence mitigation will be focused on solution primarily for the 5G and WLAN networks. Particularly the investigations will be aimed towards advanced techniques for LTE systems and new 5G techniques. Investigation will include cognitive and energy efficient methods for using of the radiofrequency spectrum, advanved synchronization methods, and methods for estimation of the quality of service (QoS) and the quality of experience (QoE).
The research in the area of technologies for network and systems security is aimed to the issues of the privacy in moder mobile and wireless networks, as well as the development and analysis of efficient communication and security protocols within the context of the Internet of Things (IoT) systems. Within the context of the first topic the emphasisi will be on the location privacy in WLAN networks. The development of adequite analytical models for accurate estimation of the location privacy risk in WiFi networks is planned. Within the investigation of the IoT systems, the development of autonomous network sensors is planned. The special emphasis will be on the development of energy efficient communication protocols which will enable a long life cycle of the battery powered network.
